Coffee Talk: Happy Valentine's Day Week

Hi ya’ll,

Just a quick update on what’s been going on lately. We had the amazing Lily Nichols speak at our BIRTHFIT Leader Meeting last week. If ya’ll don’t know her, get to know her. She’s done so much research for women’s health, specifically around pregnancy, postpartum, and even gestational diabetes. We had her come and speak on some of her latest research, which was focused on proteins and amino acids.

There’s no reason to be counting anything—macros or calories—especially during the motherhood transition. More times than not with women, I see that they need more food and more protein. For example, I aim to get 100-150 grams of protein a day. I really encourage you to think about upping your protein game.

If you’re somebody who is trying to lose weight, then I’d focus on other areas. I’d focus on how you can incorporate more movement throughout your day and explore your relationship with food. Whenever I work with clients who want to lose weight, I don’t limit anything. I think that it’s a very limiting and fear-based mindset to be in. With anything, we need to choose to be in abundance.

The work of Marc David at the Institute for the Psychology of Eating that is another great resource. Listen to our interview on the BIRTHFIT Podcast here.

XO,

LC
